Excursion

Norway
in a nutshell
Bergen is an excellent starting point for visits to the Norwegian fjords.
We suggest a one-day excursion by train, boat and bus to the fjords, called
Norway
in a nutshell. This very popular excursion can be enjoyed every day,
year-round. We suggest taking this excursion, together with colleagues,
on the day before the tutorials (Monday, June 7).
Tickets for this excursion can not be ordered at the conference
office, but can be bought directly at the Bergen train station or
the tourist information office. No reservation is required, although
purchase of the ticket a day in advance is recommended, to be on the safe
side. The price is NOK 525. The round trip tour can be taken in two
directions, one of them is the following:
-
By train from Bergen to Myrdal.
-
By train from Myrdal to Flåm (steep!) with stop at Kjosfossen (waterfall).
Time for lunch at Flåm.
-
By boat from Flåm to Gudvangen, through beautiful Aurlandsfjord and
Nærøyfjord.
-
By bus from Gudvangen to Voss, with stop at Stalheim (panorama).
-
By train from Voss back to Bergen.
The timetable offers the following possibilities, all departing from the
Bergen train station:
-
Departure 7:33, return 16:16.
-
Departure 8:30, return 20:18.
-
Departure 13:10, return 21:49.
